Social Media on Vacay

Someone sent me these, and I nearly fell off the sofa at JB's House!

Read on!

THESE ARE ACTUAL COMPLAINTS RECEIVED BY "THOMAS COOK VACATIONS" FROM DISSATISFIED CUSTOMERS:
1. "They should not allow topless sunbathing on the beach. It was very distracting for my husband who just wanted to relax."
2. "On my holiday to Goa in India, I was disgusted to find that almost every restaurant served curry. I don't like spicy food."
3. "We went on holiday to Spain and had a problem with the taxi drivers as they were all Spanish."
4. "We booked an excursion to a water park but no-one told us we had to bring our own swimsuits and towels. We assumed it would be included in the price."
5. "The beach was too sandy. We had to clean everything when we returned to our room."
6. "We found the sand was not like the sand in the brochure. Your brochure shows the sand as white but it was more yellow."
7. "It's lazy of the local shopkeepers in Puerto Vallartato close in the afternoons. I often needed to buy things during 'siesta' time -- this should be banned."
8. "No-one told us there would be fish in the water. The children were scared."
9. "Although the brochure said that there was a fully equipped kitchen, there was no egg-slicer in the drawers."
10. "I think it should be explained in the brochure that the local convenience store does not sell proper biscuits like custard creams or ginger nuts."
11. "The roads were uneven and bumpy, so we could not read the local guide book during the bus ride to the resort. Because of this, we were unaware of many things that would have made our holiday more fun."
12. "It took us nine hours to fly home from Jamaica to England. It took the Americans only three hours to get home. This seems unfair."
13. "I compared the size of our one-bedroom suite to our friends' three-bedroom and ours was significantly smaller."
14. "The brochure stated: 'No hairdressers at the resort.' We're trainee hairdressers and we think they knew and made us wait longer for service."
15. "When we were in Spain, there were too many Spanish people there. The receptionist spoke Spanish, the food was Spanish. No one told us that there would be so many foreigners."
16. "We had to line up outside to catch the boat and there was no air-conditioning."
17. "It is your duty as a tour operator to advise us of noisy or unruly guests before we travel."
18. "I was bitten by a mosquito. The brochure did not mention mosquitoes."
19. "My fiancée and I requested twin-beds when we booked, but instead we were placed in a room with a king bed. We now hold you responsible and want to be re-reimbursed for the fact that I became pregnant. This would not have happened if you had put us in the room that we booked."

Still at the Hospital

So are you still with me?

Today, we had a ton of rain in the parking lot. Hubby got drowned and we drove to Kentucky Fried Chicken (OH NO! THAT is NOT on my DIET!) to eat because we are getting low on food, and I thought it would be best if we saved the last pound of burger for lunch tomorrow...but I digress.

As per usual. You know me so well.

Anyway, remember I told you about the hallway?

Is this a lesson in art vanishing points? If you look closely, you will see me behind the camera! (Laughing. You thought I would say "at the end of the hall" didn't you?)

And then, there's this little bistro at the end of said hall. They also sell diet Pepsi (my namesake) and other delectibles....

And this isn't even the good stuff. They had another case full of chocolate covered everything. And what did they name the place?

But I lovingly called it "Eat at Joe's".

The art here is really pretty spectacular. Some examples:

This looks like a wild Japanese parking lot I saw on Facebook one day!

And this was come cool irridescent stuff. Sparkled all over.

And some melted plastic--maybe glass, don't rightly know. But it was purty.

We are still waiting for the doctor to show up to discuss with my MIL whether she can go home tomorrow or not. We're hoping.

And I won some auctions today. Three coolers, a small bbq grill and a mechanics toolkit. All for JB's House. Just outfitting.

Good Morning World!

Hubby Makes a Face

Yup. That's him. Mandy decided to get in on the picture.

In The Hospital

Hubby's Mom

She's in the hospital. Recently had surgery to bypass a blocked artery between the aorta and her femoral artery.

Apparently, she has had this done once before, and the original "stent" is what was blocked.

In any case, the surgery went pretty well, but she is not 'doing' well. Blood flow has been restored and all that, but she looks pregnant! She is not able to pass gas, and the doctors won't let her leave until she has done so.

And now she has thrush in her mouth, which will make anybody ornery--it just hurts a lot. It's not fun to be in the hospital and hurting at the same time.

At The Hospital

It's hard to believe, but we are still here. It got a little humid today, and we opened the windows on the Motorhome (I am dubbing her "JellyBean's House".) to cool things down. But it was just easier to go inside the hospital and enjoy the air conditioning--

So after supper dishes were washed, dried and put away, we walked inside to check on hubby's mother.

We walked past these things:

This is a cascading waterfall. Yes, that's water coming down the column! It simply slides down into this little pool at the bottom. Lots of change in that pool. Anybody want to go wading with me?

This is a quilt landscape. You can see my shadow in the glass-so no, it's not a ghostie, and it's not part of the picture!

And after miles of hallway, you get to the elevator for the patient towers. Take the elevator and when you get off, you walk down another hallway and finally arrive at your destination.

It's really quite a trip.

I made lots of progress on my sweater, too, but it's late, and I need to get some sleep if I have any hope of convincing my hubby not to do any more dumb things in this lifetime.

I tell you, it's an uphill battle some days.

A MOTORHOME?

Hubby and I Have a MotorHome!
Funny how that turned out, by the way, in that we were at this auction...and there was a motorhome there, along with other "stuff" my husband wanted to bid on--namely a tractor and a truck and a few assorted miscellany--
He asked me how much I would pay for the thing. I said,
"Not a dime over $8,000."
So we walked outside with all the other bidders. Hubby started things off with $5,000. I was shocked! HE WANTS A TRACTOR! I said to myself. WHY IS HE REALLY BIDDING ON THIS BEHEMOTH OF A CAR? A MOBILE HOME WANNABE?
The next thing I know, the bidding is over and we own a 37' motorhome.
OMG.
A MOTORHOME!
So now, you see, there is planning to do, and places to go, people to see! She's already been on a maiden voyage--we drove to the parking lot at the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and parked there while his mother had surgery (another story). We had things to do at home, and so we left, but ended up coming right back again, because
HEY, WE'RE FLEXIBLE THAT WAY NOW. WE ARE RETIRED AND FREE AS BIRDS...
Well, as free as two people with a dog and two cats are concerned.
And what of those animals? We are hoping to take them with us on our adventures, but the cats are something of a questionable issue that needs resolution. When trips are short, they can stay home, but should the trip last longer, they might have to go with us, and while the dog is easy to take along, my cats are not car friendly--let alone motorhome. But you never know--they might surprise us. The biggest question is where to house them.

Oh, yeah. I had to back up 30 feet to get it all into the picture!
And so we are on our way. I had dinner, and I'm just about to head in to the hospital to see my mother-in-law. Food is on the stove waiting for hubby to return for dinner, and I have knitting (a sweater) going, which I'm on the sleeves, doing both at the same time.

Sorry about the lighting, but it's getting dark outside.
So, with that, I'm going to sign off for the moment. Update on my MIL tomorrow!
